Ace Attorney stuff (2008-01-17 10:01)

CAPCOM's uploaded a translation of the Flash-based Ace Attorney 4 demo on their website, which lets you play from the beginning of the case 1 through the first cross-examination.



The game will be released in February, so there's only a month left before Apollo Justice's debut. There are lots of additions to the game mechanics, many of which have been displayed in PW1's bonus case, but then there's also a brand new system which lets you detect signs of nervousness in court when people are lying. Probably even more.

As if this wasn't awesome enough to begin with, a Phoenix Wright graphic novel has been licensed for release in NA. Volume 1 and volume 2 are already up for pre-order on Amazon, and will supposedly both be 416 pages long (is this even possible?). Zvarri!

XBMC on GNU/Linux (2007-08-29 19:08)

I've got the GNU/Linux port of XBMC up and running on my laptop in 720p! Movie and music playback is no problem. Fetching RSS feeds, weather forecasts, submitting music statistics to Last.fm and so on is also working just fine. (Listening to music in the above picture.)

Now, I don't really need a media center application on my laptop, but it's slick anyway. And we recently got an HDTV... Building a decent media center box running XBMC would be fucking awesome!! 1080p all the way to the mall, baby.

T-skjorter fra Nintendo (2007-08-21 15:08)

Jeg innså for en stund siden at jeg ikke hadde én eneste Nintendo-relatert t-skjorte!!! For en skam. Derfor kjøpte jeg Nintendo Prize Collection T-SHIRTS-settet (official+limited edition selvsagt) som består av disse tre (KJEMPEKULE) t-skjortene:




To av t-skjortene har Super Mario Bros.-tema, den ene med mange Mario, og den andre full av stjerner, fluesopp og annet moro. Den siste har en kul, stilisert tegning av en Famicom med to kontroller. :D Digger dem!! Tok bildene for en stund siden, men jeg har vært for lat til å skrive noe om dem før nå.

Hahahaha. :D I've been struggling to get Google Calendar integration working in GNOME ever since the switch to Debian, but only right now I figured out the error. Evolution was in offline mode, and thus wouldn't ever fetch the calendar info. Either way, it's working now. Awesome!

I'm not sure what's on my mind these days, but there's not much computer crap at all. Weird how I end up writing about that all the time here. No, my focus has recently been more about... Dunno, normal stuff. Having fun at the beach with Monica, playing video games now and then, cleaning my room over and over, stuff like that. Started reading a book called "Sov godt og få det bedre", which'll hopefully learn me a trick or two about sleeping. It's focus is rather psychic, which would seem appropriate for me. I've been feelin' kinda tired lately.

Also, this might just become the best DS homebrew ever.

Just a bit more than a week left before I'm 18. Hahaha, I'm so hyped about it, and I don't even know why! It's just... 18. Wow. It both looks and sounds awesome. It's as if I'm gonna become something I've always wanted to be, except it's only a fucking number. Hah!

Anyway, going to clean my room (it's actually kind of addicting), grab a bite, and go to sleep. I don't like staying up late anymore. It makes me feel like crap. Waking up early is lots better, because I can get lots more done that way (not being a sleepy zombie). Sure hope I haven't been chosen to have any oral exam, so I can proceed with my vacation-like days. God natt, good night, おやすみなさい, 晚安。睡觉时间到了。

HD med i810, LJ styling (2007-06-10 11:06)

Her om dagen fant jeg endelig en løsning for å se HD-video med skjermkortet mitt! Alle mediaspillerene døde med en BadAlloc-feil om jeg forsøkte å kjøre video med høy oppløsning. Jeg har et Intel 945GM skjermkort, eller noe lignende i alle fall, som bruker i810-driverene. Det som måtte gjøres, var å legge til et par ekstra linjer i xorg.conf under Section "Device":
Option "VideoRam" "65536"
Option "CacheLines" "1980"

mingmeijun bought me a paid account some while ago, thanks a lot! It's awesome! I wanted to make a new style for my journal! Currently working on converting my website's codebase to LJ's markup. I wish LJ style creation was better documented. Or am I just not looking in the places? It seems like S1 styles do not support tags or locations, that's pretty fucking lazy. LiveJournal staffers could only add a few more variables, or eventually add those to %%currents%%. :/

Debian unstable (2007-06-09 14:06)

I upgraded Debian to unstable yesterday, because ZSNES didn't work. But ZSNES didn't work after that either. However, it does after creating the directory ~/.kde/socket-kattepus, and that's it. Hahaha!

Oh well, unstable now contains GNOME 2.18 mostly, so it was worth doing the upgrade anyway. Of course there are some problems, which I didn't think about even for a second before doing the upgrade.

ipw3945 kernel modules are not created for unstable, so I have to compile them after every kernel upgrade, but that's not a problem with module assistant.

gnome-mount has replace pmount, and gnome-mount by default mounts vfat in some shit encoding, I don't know how to fix this at the moment. I could use fstab, but for some reason the write speed to my SD card sucks when doing it that way (2 hours versus 5 minutes with the exact same files).

Epiphany no longer performs a Google search when I press enter after writing something into the address bar, and it's driving me nuts! I've added a Google search box on the right of the address line, but I want to do my searches quickly from the address bar instead!!!!!

On overall, unstable is awesome.

It's so hot outside! Summer certainly came along with the beautiful month that is June. I've got bad sunburns on my arms and shoulders (though not as bad as the man in CoMI3), even on one of my ears, but the weather's so nice...!!! It's difficult to stay inside all day. Plus it kinda makes me feel more human, being outside that is! The water's great too. Now, if only the burns would stop hurting... :D

My class already had our exam, and unless I have to go through with some oral exam next week, only a couple of class trips are left before the vacation starts, on my birthday. Mmmmm. I'm looking forward to be of full age and legal capacity, just because it's awesome to be able to pass votes and stuff.

mingmeijun's class went to Tusenfryd today. So I am kinda bored at the moment. Well, she'll be home in a few hours, so I should get on with the housework now. It's time to play with Mr. Vacuum again.


OH, and I won 50 kroner over a bet today, hahaha. Emil and I looked at an iPod in our classroom, and were arguing over which Daniel the owner was, so we made a bet. You already know who were right. 8D

Pokémon Pearl (2007-05-28 19:05)

Jeg har fått litt mer dreisen på Pokémon Pearl etter hvert, men ikke noe særlig; jeg er i alle fall ikke på det stadiet der jeg orker å stresse med EVer og IVer. Har ca. 24 timer spilling så langt, og synes det er ganske mye, men ikke i forhold til det alle jeg kjenner har, med unntak for den minste broren min. Derfor vil jeg ikke spille med noe via Wi-Fi før jeg har kommet lengre ut i spillet. ;_;

Mesteparten av Pokémonene jeg har på teamet, har jeg byttet med mingmeijun, så akkurat nå er jeg mildt sagt i trøbbel, ettersom bare LUXRAY er kamerat med meg fortsatt. HÅPER AT JEG KAN FÅ LITT STERKERE POKÉMON TIL Å HØRE PÅ MEG ETTER FEMTE GYM. Beklager den stygge tabellen, jeg er ikke noe flink til dette uten å bruke CSS.

Monica og jeg hadde treårsjubileum i går! Jeg fikk flott hjertekort av henne, og så har hun sagt at jeg skal få enda en ting senere!! Av meg fikk hun et slags brev, og boller jeg hadde bakt. Riktignok med ferdigmiks, men det var vanskelig nok; jeg brukte ganske mange timer på å få til greiene. Lagde et bollemonster med øyne, munn og ører, som ble ganske fryktinngytende!

Vi koste med hverandre. Tøyset og lo masse. Snakket sammen masse. Jeg skrev om koden til hjemmesiden hennes. Hun tegnet mye da jeg fikk tegneprogrammet på DSen til å virke. Vi oppdaterte hjemmesiden vår.

Jeg hadde det flott. Tiden gikk fort. Slik den har gjort de tre siste årene. Jeg håper at forholdet vårt vil vare! Gratulerer, Monica.

retrospective 90 minutes (2007-05-17 00:05)

Mye har skjedd, og jeg har oppdatert lite. Vært mye sliten, og ikke hatt noen særlig ønsker om å sette meg ned for å dokumentere mine siste spillopper.

For noen uker siden... nei, vent; det har søren meg gått nærmere en måned allerede. Tiden flyr. lionhead var ferdig med sitt opphold i Porsgrunn, og kom derfor med buss hit til Larvik for å bli fra fredag til lørdag. mingmeijun og jeg dro for å møte han, og etter litt frem og tilbake fant vi hverandre. A touching reunion! Dette var den andre gangen jeg fikk besøk av den flotte herremannen, han var også innom på dagsbesøk i januar. Vi spiste pizza, drakk eplejuice, spilte en hel masse Perfect Dark og StepMania (mingmeijun spilte heller Pokémon Diamond imens), og som avslutning på dagen så lionhead og jeg en film. Søren, skulle ha tatt noen bilder! Det var i alle fall en bra event.

Det har vært mye skolegreier, husker jeg. Skoleåret nærmer seg slutten, og derfor har jeg hatt innleveringer hele tiden. Blant annet var det innlevering av prosjektet mitt forrige uke, med rapport som endte opp på 17 A4-sider, og den skrev jeg på én natt. Jeg er fremdeles trøtt etter det, fordi jeg ikke har noen som helst evne til å ta igjen søvn, men det kommer forhåpentligvis til å jevne seg ut over tid.

Jo, nå kom jeg på mer! Det er så mye! :@ mingmeijun og jeg ble ganske frik på StepMania. Det ble plutselig mer moro da jeg fikk inn sanger som jeg likte litt bedre enn DDR-greiene av Smile.dk og E-Rotic, liksom. Visste Monica hadde dansematte, så da bestilte jeg et PSX→USB-adapter til henne, og det fungerte fint i Ubuntu 6.10 (og IKKE 7.04).

For noen uker siden var det hemmis-treff, var ganske bra greier. Vi samlet oss for å spille Pokémon på DS, var det visst, og jeg mistet spillet mitt da DSen falt i bakken ute, rett etter at jeg hadde møtt Monica, og merket det ikke før det hadde gått flere timer, da jeg var hos krisselv og tok ut DSen. Men heldigvis fant jeg den, da jeg lånte sykkelen hans for å lete. Bilder her og her.

Begynte å spille The Wind Waker på nytt, siden jeg følte en trang til å gjøre det helt fra jeg rundet Twilight Princess. Sykt fornøyd så langt! Har kost meg og akkurat fått seil til båten. Ja, denne gangen har jeg kost meg. Herlig grafikk og masse morsomme animasjoner, blant annet scenen der Link blir plassert i en tønne og skutt inn i Forsaken Fortress, ga meg en skikkelig latterkule. Selv om spillet har en «barnslig» stil over seg, var jeg nødt til å bli mer voksen for å kunne nyte det. Jeg har mange episke timer i vente.

Har forsøkt å være uten melk i en uke nå for å sjekke om jeg ikke tålte det, og det forsøket gikk egentlig utrolig dårlig, fordi jeg nesten bare liker melketing, og siden jeg glemte meg helt og har gomlet sjokolade hver eneste dag! Aaaaaagh.

I morgen er det nasjonaldagen, og da stiller mingmeijun og jeg selvsagt opp i tog. Vi skal visst henge med ranm og lysnes også, slik jeg forstod det, og det kan bli bra, så lenge jeg ikke suger og blir utmattet eller noe sånt. Kanskje jeg får smøre en matpakke. Vi skal i alle fall møte opp kl. 0945-1000, så da er det bare å stå opp litt tidlig. Ingen NATT TIL SØTTENDE ØLL OG FESST her i gården.

Det er morsomt å ta et retrospektivt blikk på tilværelsen i blant, men jeg tenker at det holder for nå. Det skjer mye fremover også. Om én måned og fire dager fyller jeg år og blir myndig! Og om TO DAGER har Monica og jeg treårsjubileum!!!!!!

As I wasn't able to concentrate, but was kind of bored anyway, today was my first time doing a friends cut, cutting down from the list of friends from over 80 something to less than 50, and leaving most communities as well. Mostly inactive people/old accounts/those I don't talk with at all were cut, but do tell me if you think I cut you away erronously.

Debian for Monica (2007-05-06 23:05)

I feel like such a crappy geek, not being able to fix his girlfriend's computer. I mean, how common is it for a geek to get a girlfriend? Yeah. And if they actually did get one, should they be able to fix anything for her? That's a true geek's duty! And I'm a failure. :(

The long story: mingmeijun wished to upgrade from Ubuntu 6.10 to 7.04, and I upgrade the system with no visible problems. Then when she gets home and is going to play StepMania with her dance mat (I bought an adapter recently for her), the controls are fucked up.

I got to take a look at dmesg's output the next day, and it said the pad was recognised as an Xbox controller. Well, that's great, BUT IT'S A FUCKING PLAYSTATION PAD.

So then I created a thread at the Ubuntu Forums, asking for some help, but the faggots didn't bother to reply. So after some testing of my own, I thought it'd be easier to just run Debian instead, as it's been working a lot better with my hardware anyway, and I know the pad is working correctly, so I installed testing lenny/sid.

She's got a ipw2200 WLAN card, and mine's an ipw3945, so I thought it'd be basically the same thing, but fuck no. In the end, even after trying to compile the module by myself and all that crap, I never got it to work. :@:@:@:@:@ GODDAMN IPW2200 CRAP FIRMWARE SHIT

So I've been googling for info on using the card in Debian, and it seems like I was, like, this far |--| from getting it running. Crap shit cock Kim Il non-free bajs. It seems like the current procedure is to install the ipw2200 module The Debian Way, and then download the proprietary firmware and insert it to some folder manually. I did download the firmware and unpack it, but it seemed to create a subfolder which shouldn't have been there.

God, I really wish I'd gotten that crap working today. :( But at least the dance pad should be working.

Twilight Princess (2007-04-23 16:04)

Today I was able to complete The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the first time! It took me 4 months and 15 days only, with a bit more than 40 hours of play time!

In the beginning, I was very hyped, having longed to play this game for years! Then the fucking cat right at the beginning put me off, I spent half an hour trying to figure out what to do with it, and didn't get anywhere until my brother told me to go fishing again. I hated that buggy fishing, it was so unlike what I'd expected. But then again, when I was bitching about how crap it was, kuressu told me the fishing seen on E3 was later into the game, and I was okay with it.

However, my excitement continued to drop, as I was expecting too much. As with The Wind Waker, my mind was set on playing something as good, or maybe even better, than Ocarina of Time. And I put away The Wind Waker for good after less than ten hours of playing. It's a shame I didn't realise it before; my expectations were ruining hours of fun! I finally got to my senses after I don't know, 30 hours or so, telling myself to take the game for what it is, and while proceeding with that attitude, the last ten hours were goddamn epic! Not that the first ones weren't any fun, or I'd have given up this game to. I just didn't let myself enjoy it as much as I could've done.



What's been fascinating me through all of the game is the advanced game engine. I love how they make all the cut-scenes with the engine itself, instead of using FMVs, other game makers should add better scripting abilities to their games (Square-Enix etc). It's amazing how much they are able to make the characters do, and they are even able to specify exactly how the camera should focus! I mean, seriously, my jaws were dropping at the Lake Hylia scene. Fucking perfect. I bet Twilight Princess would make one of the best engines for machinima ever.

So many people have been critising Twilight Princess' graphics, and I don't get them at all. It's the prettiest thing I've ever seen. It isn't HD enough for everyone, I guess? Even though they know this is a Gamecube game, they still ramble on, but really, I've never seen anything better on Xbox, and of course not the PS2 either. Games aren't about the graphics, although they do make a nice addition to the gameplay. There might be better-looking games for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but there sure aren't any better games for those. But anyway, people saying that Twilight Princess' graphics are crappy shouldn't play games. Go watch a movie or something.

I think that Twilight Princess might be my second favourite game ever, ranking just about Ace Attorney. There were lots of funny details everywhere, and the story was top-notch, so I'm looking forward to playing it again some day. There's still lots for me to discover on my current save file, so I can play for hours if I feel like it. Splendid!

PS. Please release a soundtrack with more than six tracks soon, Nintendo.

"lenny" og påskeslutt (2007-04-10 07:04)

Oh wow, hahahaha. Siden Debian 4.0 "etch" ble sluppet den 8. april, og jeg kjører testing, lurte jeg på når distroen ville oppgradere til "lenny". Har ikke fått én oppdatering så langt, også skrur jeg på datamaskinen i dag og ser 235. D: Masse ny programvare, wohoo!

Ferien er over, og det er litt synd. Jeg lå og reflekterte over hvordan den hadde vært da jeg skulle sove i natt, og kom frem til at den har vært meget innholdsrik og givende, så det trengte ikke å ende allerede, men okay. Alle gode ting har en slutt, og så får man bare håpe og glede seg til man har en ny sjanse!

På tide med morgengymnastikken, poff!
